Guggul Extract
A 1994 study compared the prescription Tetracycline which is prescribed by a doctor for severe acne, at a dose of 500mg 2x/day and another group took guggul extract with 25mg of guggulsterone, which is the active component of guggul extract that has anti inflammatory benefits, 2x/day and found that they worked about the same in reducing inflammation and people with oily skin actually responded better to guggul extract. The product I would recommend is Natures Biodition – Guggul Capsules, you would have to take 2 capsules 2x/day to match the acne study and you get the added benefit of supporting your cholesterol too!

Spearmint Extract
Spearmint has been studied as a natural treatment for hormonal acne in women. There was a study done where women drank 2 cups of spearmint tea a day and after 1 month inflammation from acne reduced 25% and in 3 months reduced 51%, just by drinking a cup of tea twice a day. If tea is not your thing, the equivalent would be taking 400mg per day of spearmint extract. I would recommend Swanson Full Spectrum Spearmint, it’s the exact dose 400 mg per capsule and spearmint can also improve digestion!
